Seeking a Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients within the designated service. The NP performs physical examinations, collaborates with others in the department to assure smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care. The NP reports to the Chief of the designated service and to the Department Manager.
Responsibilities:
Perform assessments, including history taking and physical examinations, and collect data systematically
Consult with supervising physicians or other clinicians based on patient needs and findings and collaborate to deliver effective patient care
Establish and maintain effective communication with healthcare providers to ensure operational efficiency, consistently and continuity of care. Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members and evaluate effectiveness
Apply established safety principles and follow protocols accordingly. Demonstrate accountability and responsibility in professional practice
Exhibit a patient centered service philosophy and utilize computer systems and telecommunication modalities proficiently to document, track and convey information.
Minimum two years, with past three years, or experience as a NP providing specialized care for persons CV Surgery, Advanced Heart Failure management, Heart Transplant, and Left Ventricular Assist Device implant.
Masters Degree in Nursing (Acute Care NP required)
California NP license
BLS and ACLS
RN First Assist experience

Hospital rounding and surgery work experience
Cardio clinic work experience
