The Lead Controls Engineer is responsible for leading controls technology evaluation, application development and testing, design, programming, and implementation of innovative and advanced technology used in our process control systems. This position is also considered an expert who can troubleshoot new systems, legacy systems, and upgrade efforts.
The Lead Controls Engineer is also responsible for leading the development of the electrical areas of capital improvement project budgets and working on project cross-functional teams with teammates from maintenance, engineering, quality, production, and others as required. This position will be tasked with issues of high complexity, high difficulty, and often high urgency.
This corporate position will be heavily supporting the tire production facilities in North, Central, and South America, sometimes requiring unplanned immediate travel, weekend work, and off-shift work. Travel requirements are project dependent and vary from 40-65% . This position will be highly visible to plant and senior corporate management.
Responsibilities:
You will Lead large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from the manager
Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level professionals
Assists in the development of operational plan and implements for areas of assigned responsibilities
Identifies continuous improvement/automation activities
Determines method of research for the planning, design development and testing of electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes
You will support relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
Required skills and experience:
8+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer designing and implementing process controls
Experience with Allen Bradly, Rockwell Automation, PLC Programming
Must have experience with Complex Controls for Large Processes
Must be willing to travel over 40% of the time
Bachelors in electrical engineering
